Respect Me 2018 – Call for Submissions is Open!
Grouphug is back for its 5th annual show & ready to shake up NYC Design Week once again.
Our 2018 show is called “Respect Me” about female empowerment. We’ve always tackled tough topics every year. This is not only an urgent topic, but one I think everyone is anxious to sink their teeth into.
Now, more than ever, we need designers & creative problem solvers to come together and focus their talents on the issues that really matter. As I wrote in a previous post, the world doesn’t need more high end chairs, it needs real solutions to issues like gender inequality.
From the beginning of time, women seemingly fall short in comparison to men. They are viewed as inferior and as a result are paid less, underrepresented in the government and almost every industry, subject to sexual harassment, and not guaranteed basic reproductive rights. Underneath the myriad of issues, there is an inherent lack of respect. Half of the world’s population is female, why are they systematically undervalued? We challenge you to think about your own personal experience. Choose an issue you are passionate about and address it. We encourage submissions from all genders & on any LBGTQ+ issue.
Hard to believe this will be our 5th ANNUAL SHOW (wuuuuuuttttt?!?)
I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
We’re coming for you, 2018.
